Drag. What is it? Why? What’s the point?
I often get these questions from people, and sometimes even from myself, at 4am, during an existential crisis. To put it in a simple phrase, it is the performance of gender. The purpose in its origin is to ridicule and satire gender, its roles, definition and concept as a whole. 
Dragqueensanddragkingshavebeenputtingonsatiricalperformancesinregardtogenderfor centuries now. One of my first ever memories is my dad, or grandfather, or any male figure from my family telling me “man up” or “stop acting like a girl”, I was six years old and these phrases would get thrown around at any occasion.
